A Youth Football Playbook Kids Understand at a Glance
A youth football playbook has one job: get eight, ten and twelve year olds lined up and running the right thing. Football Playbook turns your plays into labeled, animated diagrams and numbered wristband cards, so your install happens on the field instead of in a huddle.
- Every player labeled on the diagram
- Animation shows where everyone ends up
- Numbered wristbands your players wear
- Share the same playbook with your assistants

Football Playbook
Start with three plays your team can actually run
Simple beats clever at this age. These are live diagrams — the same rendering your players will see on a printed card.
One direction, one read. The first play most youth teams can run in a week.
The receivers clear out and the center releases into the space they vacated.
A run track with blocks drawn as bars, so each lineman sees one job.
Communicate
Show the play instead of explaining it twice
Young players read pictures far better than words. Each diagram carries position labels, color-coded actions and a marked target, and pressing play walks the whole group through the concept at speed.
When a kid asks "where do I go?", you hand them the tablet and the answer is on the screen.
The receivers clear out and the center releases into the space they vacated.
Wristbands
Call a number, not a paragraph
Print a booklet with up to 24 numbered plays across a front panel and two inside panels. Your quarterback looks down, finds the number, and the huddle is over. Print in color for practice and black and white when the copier at the field house is all you've got.

Your staff
Assistant coaches see the same playbook you do
Youth staffs are volunteers with day jobs. Share a play with a link, or put the whole install in a team workspace so your line coach and your defensive coach are teaching from the identical diagram — not a photo of a whiteboard from three weeks ago.

Whatever your league plays
Youth leagues never agree on a format. Pick yours and the field opens with the right number of players in a sensible alignment.
Game day
One tablet on the sideline, nothing to break
Game Mode shows one big play at a time with oversized next and previous buttons and the calls you starred before kickoff. It's read-only, so a player scrolling through plays on the bench can't delete your install.

What youth coaches use most
Fast play creation
Drag, draw, save. A three-play install takes a coffee break, not an evening.
Position labels
Rename any player to whatever your kids answer to — X, Y, or Jaylen.
Practice cards
Print plays as PDFs for practice scripts and parent handouts.
Situation tags
Tag goal line and short-yardage calls so they surface when you need them.
Both sides of the ball
Add a defense to a diagram so your kids see the look they'll face.
Works on a phone
Draw a play from the parking lot before practice starts.
Youth football playbook questions
- How many plays should a youth football playbook have?
- Most youth coaches are better off with six to ten plays a team can run cleanly than thirty they half-know. Build a small install, run it until it's automatic, then add a counter off a look the kids already recognize.
- How do I help young players remember their assignments?
- Give them a picture instead of a paragraph. Every player is labeled on the diagram, the play animates so they can see where everyone ends up, and a printed wristband number replaces memorizing a name.
- Do wristbands work for youth teams?
- They're the single biggest time saver for youth coaching. Number your plays, print a booklet of up to 24 slots, and calls become a number instead of a huddle explanation — which matters a lot when a play clock is running and half the team is eight years old.
- Can I share the playbook with my assistant coaches?
- Yes. Share individual plays with a link, or create a team workspace so your assistants see the same playbook you do and everyone teaches the same version of the play.
- Which youth formats are supported?
- Flag from 5v5 through 9v9, plus nine-player youth tackle, 11v11 and 12v12 Canadian. If your league plays 6v6 or 7v7, that alignment opens by default with the right number of players.
- Do I need to be good at drawing to use it?
- No. Drag a player, drag a line off him, done. Routes smooth themselves out, so a shaky finger on a phone still produces a clean diagram that reads well when it's printed.
- Can I use it during a youth game?
- Yes. Game Mode is a read-only tablet view with one big diagram and large buttons, which is what you want when you're holding a call sheet in one hand and a whistle in the other.
- Is it free for youth coaches?
- You can draw and animate plays without an account. Saving a playbook, printing wristbands and sharing with your staff need a free account.
